Artwork Details
Full Description
Mother and Child is a layered and expressive semi figurative work that brings together architectural structure, emotional gesture, and symbolic color. The central forms of mother and child are suggested through curved contours, directional linework, and overlapping material layers that imply protection, care, and intimate connection.
Deep black shapes provide weight and grounding. Terracotta and lime green activate the emotional field. Sky blue opens areas of calm and breath. Neon yellow accents draw attention to moments of heightened energy. Collaged fragments and textural marks introduce memory, environment, and cultural context. White gesture lines weave through the composition, suggesting the movement and shared energy between the figures.
This work reflects Gregory’s shift toward narrative and relational abstraction, making it an important marker within his artistic evolution.
