“Independence” from the Social Coding Series

“Independence”
2026, Found images, Acrylic Paint, Oil Pastel on Paper, 18x24 inches unframed

A piece from my “Social Coding” series.

"This is a sourced image collage juxtaposed with abstract expressionisms. Works that have been and reworked, or reinvented.

It's been remade in a different light. I sourced fragmentation from

mixed media works I started in Mexico, Italy and Africa while I was a member of the Global Arts Project headed by Carl Heyward out of the Bay Area. And some just new and experimental in nature.

What I am reaching for in this body of work are the tensions found in and out of social norms.

Cultural, geographic, gender norms… with image, color, mark and at times, texture as well.

Placing sourced images from years past, sometimes even with use of realistic, representational photographic elements, I worked within the expressive mark and personal codex built upon references to the landscape, both urban and rural.

This was a process of taking what could be considered two dimensional artifacts, found and made integrated, weaved, collaged into a narrative that is or alludes to a punk rock dada visual Koan that asks you to questions your place in this world.

Where are you on your journey?"
